Description

Abstract The Torrance County digital road network wa created as part of the State of New Mexico Enhanced 911 Addressing Grant. The original primary function was to lay the basis for GIS thematic mapping. An updated version of the digital road network was the foundation for the Enhanced 911 project. The road were not digitized based on legal descriptions
Purpose The primary purpose for developing and maintaining this digital road file is to provide an accurate and updated file for Enhanced 911 purposes as well as providing a foundation for a geographical information system and rural addressing requirement

Process Step

Process Description This information was gathered by vehicle mounted GPS(Trimble Pro XRS), and laptop computer. The computer was utilizing: Windows 98, ARCVIEW 3.2a . Extentions to the ARCVIEW included SDR ASIA 1.2, as well as SDR TAO 2.0. All roads were physically driven and identified by County staff. GPS data was corrected using differential data signal provided by NOAA-NWS. Addressing is developed and maintained by the ASIA extention
