Presentation Form vector digital data
Abstract This data set consists of an orthophotography tile index based on multi-spectral (red, green, blue, near-infrared) digital aerial imagery, collected and processed by Wilson and Company, of the Las Conchas Fire that burned in the Santa Fe National Forest in the Jemez Mountains of central New Mexico in the summer of 2011. The Area of Interest (AOI) is 632,000 acres and is larger than the actual burn acreage of approximately 150,000 acres that lies within the AOI. Aerial imagery was collected with a frame - based Z/I Digital Mapping Camera at an average elevation of 4,500 feet above ground; generating an average ground sample distance (gsd) of 0.45 feet. The imagery will support the Forest Service Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) program that addresses landscape damage due to the fire, with the goal of protecting life, property, water quality, and deteriorated ecosystems from further damage now that the fire is out. Mosaicked digital orthorectified quarter-quarter quadrangles (DOQQQs) for the project area were produced. The DOQQQs cover the entire image area of one quarter of a USGS standard quarter quadrant, with a 260 meter buffer on all four sides.
Purpose This imagery was acquired post fire to support the Forest Service Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) program.

Process Step
Process Description Airborne GPS data and USGS photoidentifiable ground control were used to control a softcopy aerotriangulation block solution. External orientation parameters derived from the aerotriangulation solution were used to provide the horizontal control for each photograph. Vertical control for the orthorectification process was obtained from digital elevation model obtained from the NED.

Process Step
Process Description Mosaicked digital orthorectified quarter-quarter quadrangles (DOQQQs) for the project area defined in the Southwestern Jemez Restoration project area Shape files were produced. The DOQQQs cover the entire image area of one quarter of a USGS standard quarter quadrant, with a 100 meter buffer on all four sides. Image Quality: Wilson and Company shall radiometrically balance the files used to create the DOQQQs to eliminate any checker board pattern appearance. However, it is the USFS's preference not to have the DOQQQs "radiometrically balanced" with other neighboring DOQQQs. The DOQQQs shall not contain any borders, artifacts, or other non-image items. Feathering and/or smoothing should be applied to seamlines within or between images so there is not a noticeable edge or displacement effect. Coverage: When a DOQQQ partially covers the fire project area boundary; Wilson and Company may elect to submit a partial DOQQQ so that it completely covers the fire project area boundary. Any partial DOQQQ shall include a 100 meter buffer on the outside of the fire project area boundary. Offset: The offset between adjacent DOQQQ tiles, defined as the distance between identifiable features on two neighboring images, shall not exceed two times the horizontal accuracy requirement. File Format. The DOQQQ tiles shall be a 3-band, RGB, 8-bit per band georeferenced tagged image file format (GeoTIFF).
